When I turned on my computer I received a square tlling me theat my "computer needs fixing". The feature was by subscibing it can get fixed for "today's special -$29.94 with a $10.00 discount"
I paid through Pay Pal and when it was completed the last screen
advised me to click on the "box for $10 discount." When I did that,
I was advisd to call and 800 number to confirm. When i dis that. a
so-called tech person informed me that my computer had a lot of
malware and needed repairing. I asked him to do it and refund me the $10. He said to wait a bit on that and then he proceeded to "show me" the corruption in my computer by listing dozens of malware,etc. Then he told me the only way to fix it would be to bring the computer to a repair shop like Best Buy....but be warned
this could cost between $300 & $400. However, for $234+/- he could fix it now and completely cear up any problems. He kept coming on strong and I told him I I had the TV repair man here but would like to think it over and maybe call him back. He said it had to be considered now and asked me for my phone Number. I gave it to him and went to greet the TV man! About 5 minutes later, my phone rang and caller I.D. stated incoming from 402 area code which did not identify anyone I knew. Then I called Pay Pal and they told me to call the company...and I hung up exasperated.
