I too had issues with ITN-International Travel Network ( around the same time.
I had the insurance coverage and had become ill in Africa just before returning to U.S..
I'm a nurse. When I displayed signs of malaria and signs of a communicable disease such as chicken pox or shingles it was very evident I may be contagious. I took precautions. After seeking medical attention it was concluded/advised by the doctor I should not travel until cleared.
I spoke with the agent at ITN.CORP and Luthansa Airline regarding my medical issue.
Every instruction related to necessary changes for my return travel were followed per my agent and the airline.
Once cleared from the doctor with all the documentation requested, no one from ITN.CORP or Luthansa wanted to assist me. They both said I was a no show and therefore had to pay for a new return ticket.
Luthansa airline said, I should have traveled via public transport (on the bus tightly packed for seven hours) to come to the airport the day of my departure to cancel in person at the airport while I was ill and against medical orders.
They did not ration common sense nor medical precaution to protect the public. (See how Ebola was brought to America).
Now it was a new discussion once I was well and ready to return to the U.S..

My argument of public safety fell on deaf ears.
If I was not leagally bound as a nurse or not a responsible person, then just like some other nurses with Ebola, I would have exposed everyone in my path to the airport and on the airplane with my chicken pox and side effects of malaria.

ITN.CORP gave me a run around and no supervisor to contact directly. Eventually, they told me to take the issue to the airline. The airline insisted with evidence in writing how this was ITN.CORP responsibility.
ITN made no other attempt to resolve.
