I was called this morning by a representative of PC Care saying they were doing technical work for Microsoft, that there had been numerous error messages received, and they were calling to help. He identified himself as Alex. I was immediately suspicious, never having had a call directly from Microsoft to help me. I expressed caution and asked for a number I could call from my end. The number he gave: 1-646-843-6254. I called that number which was answered by another, who went to get Alex on the phone. Alex directed me to search my computer log where we found numerous error messages and warnings. Somewhere along the way he informed me there were costs to my telephoning him, and he asked to call me back from his end - which he did. He wanted to proceed in taking my computer into SAFE mode, but I was still skeptical and asked if I could speak to his manager. He said they didn't have managers. I asked if they had any other way (website, etc.) that I could use to confirm the authenticity of their operation. He said he would not give me that, that I was being rude. So I hung up. I located this scam stream and imagine it is a scam.
