I have read many, many of the entries to this site and need to add my own. Over the Txsgiving holiday, could not access my e-mail account. Took my computer to Office Depot, they pulled up a Yahoo contact # for me 1-888-307-9126. I called and immediately began speaking to someone with a foreign accent. He told me my e-mail account had been hacked and unfortunately, I gave him remote control of my computer so that he could assist in rectifying the problem. Once he had control,he also told me that I had several virus infections. I was, admittedly, very distressed as most of my job consists of working on my computer at home. Long story short, he did assist me in setting up a new e-mail account, etc. at the tune of $199.95 assuring me that I would also have 1 year of on-line tech support. After doing this, I felt very, very uneasy and began going on line to "check them out." I then took my computer into a reputable service company and had them do a complete scan. I updated my anti-virus protection (was told it was working fine). I changed the PW to my e-mail address. I cancelled my debit card and also plan to file a dispute claim for the $199.95 with my bank. Since this happened, I e-mailed them once with an inquiry; no response! So much for 24/7 service!I still feel very uncomfortable knowing that I gave them access to my computer, but to date, it appears to be okay. There's got to be some legal contacts we can make to get "these crooks," yes? Please let me know. And why isn't Yahoo notifying its customers about this?
