Sent me a letter stating that I am entitled to $50,000 from a total prize money of $4 mil shared among 80 other winners. The letter stated that the enclosed check for $2390 was to cover the taxes due on these winnings and that I should send back a check of $2090 to a tax agent named Jospeh Chicola in Madrid, Spain. Further instructions said that I should keep this winning confidential until my claim has been processed. The telephone numbers on the letter are for the International Claims Department, 101 Madison Ave, NYC, NY 10017, FAX 1-866-339-2885, phone # (438) 993-4196, and (438) 995-4595. None of the numbers have answering messages, just indicate that the caller should leave their name & number, with no indication as to who/what you are calling. Called the bank upon which the check was drawn (Citibank, N.A.) and was told that the check was not legitimate. Furthermore, called the company against which the claim was made (LexisNexis) and was told again that the check was fraudulent.
